Adrian & Rakel

Adrian and Rakel met the modern way:  by swiping right on Tinder (swoon!) in 2017.  After chatting for more than a month about everything possible it was time to meet up for the first time. There was a little problem , Adrian did live in a town Djúpivogur in east of Iceland- and Rakel was living in the north of Iceland  so it was a long way to meet up for a date.  Their first date had to be  weekend as  Rakel did have to drive  546 km (339 mi) or for almost 8 hours to meet her prince charming.    Well there was also another problem ,- Adrian did not speak or right  english-the conversation were made by google translate and that was all without Rakel knowing it. You can imagine her suprise when she meet her prince for the first time how that conversation went !!

The first meeting: It started with a smile to each other and then a awkward "HELLO", and then came the best and longest hug that they have ever had, just like the time stopt and somehow the nervousness dissapeard and just comfort-like they say in Spain- " like the other half of the orange was finally found" .

The  following day were more in silences and lot of hands pointing to try to understand each other, but after they did spend the weekend together they knew there was a  second date coming on the calendar.

Yes,  Rakel did drive back again the next weekend, another 546km one way  again. 

This must ment something special.

 And the ofcourse the second date went much better, as Adrian definetly was practising his english with Google more and also they where starting to understand their hand pointing better.

After that -long story short -YES- they've been together almost ever since.

 

To find a few favorite memories  of Adrian and Rakel  together is werry difficult as they love spending time together, so it is better to say it with photo Story  . They love traveling and discovering new places,love good food and drinks, love to meet new  people and meet up with friends, cook good food, watch a good movie and hang out together in the silent moments. Their lives just have more meaning for one another when they are together -their true love story.

 The proposal

The proposal was a bit unique as it ended up being a  proposal from them both, but with a few years a part,  as they did have to cancel their wedding because  C-19 did hit the world.

The first proposal: Adrian planned to propose to Rakel during their trip to Spain in the easter 2018, it was also the first trip for Rakel to meet  Adrian´s mother.

During a short trip to Malaga it was the right time. On a midday walk on the beach , Adrian did find a sweet spot for them to sit down  in the sand and rest a little bit after the massive lunch they just had. He started to talk about life to Rakel and of course about love - and after some well spoken words the box came out of his pocket and he went on one knee to pop the question. As he was starting to talk-Rakel just said-" No NO NO what is that "

 Adrian did hesitate to say anything as this big NO just did not sound the right answer he was hoping to hear. He did pop the question even though Rakel had sad this big NO.  And ofcourse  Rakel said" I mean YES not NO ...

After the ring were presented, some tears, tight hugs and kisses were shared.

The second proposal: Rakel planned to propose to Adrian on his birthday 2024, just because  Adrian had mentioned  in a joke  few times " if we are ever going to get married you would have to propose to me, because our wedding did get canceled back in the days so that proposal does not count any more."

Her plan was to do it while watching the sunset in restaurant La Roca in Salobrena old town ,but it was hard to do as it was full of people and she did get spook, so maybe not do it at all.  But after good food and drinks there it was time to walk back  down the hill and head home. On the way Rakel finally did man up  to pop the question, and after a little bit of persuasion to Adrian to sit down, and after well spoken words she finally did it . The box came out and she went on her knee to pop the question. 

And of course  Adrian did said" YES, finally "

After the ring was presented, some tears, tight hugs and kisses were shared as well.
